2026

On March 26, on the occasion of my new book “ The Last Face-Tattooed Chin Women of Myanmar”, a limited edition b/w art photo book with a hand made hardcover (covered with Shan cotton) and 128 pages, featuring 44 b/w portraits of Chin women with traditional facial tattoos from Western Myanmar, I organised a book sales and fundraise event in Yangon, sponsored by Swe Sa Bwe Bistro and Atlas Rooftop Bar, and in partnership with Kalasa Art Space and Nawaday Thalar Gallery. The funds raised support a new day care center for street kids in Yangon’s South Dagon slum, Ward 60, initiated and operated by Sonne Social Organisation (SSO). Sonne Social Organisation is a local grass roots organisation taking care of underprivileged communities, in particular children, in Yangon and surroundings since 2008. The event was attended by over 160 guests and with their help USD 4,000 in funds were raised to support SSO’s new day care center, where they provide informal education, medical care and healthy meal to children that live on and off the streets.

“The Soul of the Southern Chin - Vanishing Expressions of Identity”, a duet exhibition with Artist Salai Nanyan, an aspiring young artist from Chin State, Myanmar, combining his impressionist paintings of traditional attire and ceremonies of different Chin tribes, with my black-white portraits of Southern Chin women with traditional facial tattoos. Together we create a visually experience to tell untold stories of belonging, beauty and spirituality of the Southern Chin groups that dwell in the West of Myanmar (Burma). This first exhibition of its kind is on from November 01-November 17 at two locations in Yangon, Myanmar (Burma): The RoundHouse, Kandawgyi Lake, and Kalasa Art Space, Seikanthar Street, No 91-93.

Next Exhibition: Planned for 2026 in Yangon

Since I had to prepare and execute four exhibitions in 2024, I decided to not do any exhibition in 2025, but publish a new book instead, “The Last Face-Tattooed Chin Women of Myanmar”, a limited edition art photo book (a 100 copies, hardcover, 128 pages, featuring 44 b/w portraits of Chin women with facial tattoos). Only available in Myanmar, no ISBN, no international distribution, a collector’s item. Each book is numbered and signed. The next exhibition is planned in Yangon for October or November 2026. More details soon.
